SHS Cadet Teachers have been learning about literacy development and recently met with Librarian, Alex Donovan, at the Smithville Mid-Continent Public Library to learn about how reading out loud to children fosters essential skills like reading fluency, comprehension, and phonemic awareness. The Cadet Teaching Program offers high school students hands-on experience in classrooms, allowing them to work with teachers, assist with lessons, and gain skills in communication and leadership. This program is designed to inspire future educators and build valuable, transferable skills.
