"The warrior Archery team hosted the 2nd Annual Warrior Outdoor Challenge 3D tournament on May 20th at Lake Remote here in Smithville. We had archers from 9 schools come and compete with grades 4-12. We had local, Jefferson City & Herington KS. It was a 1.5 mile hike through the trails shooting at 30 different targets. Our MS & HS team took 1st in the team divisions, HS boys Gunnar Nelson took 3rd , Wesley Duncan 5th, Johnny Riley 8th & Brayden Williams 10th. HS girls Sonja Schumann 3rd, Audrey Naylor 4th, & Keely Lewis 5th. MS boys Connor Frederick 1st, Gavin Cornett 4th, RJ Meek 5th & Jackson Moyers 6th. MS girls Abby Adams 1st, Norah Owen 5th, Anna Wallace 6th & Evie Wilson 8th. The elementary division 1st place was taken by 2 5th graders from Platte County. We even had a parents/adult division and our very own alumni Kierstin Beshears took 1st, and parent Bobby Cornett took 4th. Our coaching staff & 1 of our volunteers even went & shot the course at the end in a friendly competition. Everyone had a great day & are already looking forward to next years, Parks & Rec have already invited us back to use any of the Smiths fork area again. It has been a great season & as always its great to see these kids enjoy the sport of archery & the outdoors. It was and always is a great day to be a Warrior. Really looking forward to seeing this program grow & what we can do with an elementary division."
