Did you know? SSD’s Bond Initiative would bring much-needed upgrades to our softball and baseball fields, including turf fields, restrooms, and concession stand! The upgrades will also include improved ADA accessibility, ensuring that all individuals, regardless of ability, can enjoy the games with ease and comfort. Includes three pictures, one of the current porta potties at the ball fields, two of renderings of what the new field would look like.

Our architect has met with students, staff, and community members to gather input on the potential design of Smithville High School. Based on this feedback, an updated rendering has been created! Future Educators in Action! 🍎📚 Yesterday, our Cadet Teaching students stepped into the shoes of classroom teachers for a full-day job shadow experience! From morning meetings to dismissal, they took part in every transition and responsibility that comes with leading a classroom. They got to try new tasks, such as taking attendance, grading papers in different subjects, monitoring recess, and even eating lunch in the cafeteria alongside students. One cadet had the exciting opportunity to join 5th grade students on a field trip to the School of Economics! This hands-on experience gave our future educators valuable insight into the teaching profession. #ssdpride

When surveyed, SMS students and staff placed restroom upgrades at the top of their priority list. Many Middle School students are taller than the stalls in our current restrooms, the need for improvement is clear. Our Bond Initiative will bring much-needed updates to these original 1992 restrooms. Strong Schools, Strong Community, Strong Future!
