The Smithville School District is pleased to announce that the Board of Education has approved a new Director of Human Resources for the 2025-2026 school year.
Julie Corless has accepted this role and brings a wealth of experience to the district. She most recently served as the Interim Executive Director of KIPP Kansas City Public Charter School. Prior to that, she held key leadership roles as Head of Talent and Programs and as Principal at KIPP Kansas City.
“I am honored and grateful to Dr. Maus and the Smithville School District Board of Education for offering me the privilege to serve in the role of Director of Human Resources. It is with Warrior pride that I look forward to joining our top-performing district team that always centers students and remains focused on academic excellence,” stated Corless. “I believe that the most important decisions we make as a district are the ones that involve the people who surround our children. Through collaboration with our team and community, I will continue to focus on attracting top talent and building systems that empower our exceptional educators, staff, and students to thrive daily.”
Mrs. Corless earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Communication and Master of Education from Rockhurst University. She is currently in the Education Specialist program at Northwest Missouri State seeking her K-12 Administration degree.
She will begin her new role on July 1, 2025. Please join us in warmly welcoming Mrs. Corless to the Warrior family—we look forward to her contributions to the continued success of our district!
