Mrs. Nicole Johnson named Assistant Principal of Horizon Elementary School

The Smithville School District is pleased to announce the Board of Education approved a new Assistant Principal at Horizon Elementary School for the 2024-2025 school year. Mrs. Nicole Johnson will replace Dr. Taylor Jahn, who is joining Maple Elementary School as principal.

Nicole Johnson has accepted the role of Horizon Elementary Assistant Principal. Mrs. Johnson is currently a second grade teacher at Horizon Elementary School. Prior to that she served as a first grade teacher in the Excelsior Springs School District. In addition, Mrs. Johnson has been on the building leadership team at Horizon Elementary School for the past two years and has also completed two internships as Summer School Principal.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve the community and staff as the new Assistant Principal of Horizon Elementary School,” stated Johnson, “I am looking forward to continuing the tradition of excellence in this role. It's a great day to be a WARRIOR!”

Nicole attended Northwest Missouri State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Education and also a Masters in Educational Leadership.
