BOND PROJECT UPDATE: Demolition has started at Smithville High School on the gymnasium mezzanine walls. Thank you to voters for passing the no-tax rate increase general obligation bond in April 2023! The High School gym will have the mezzanine walls removed in the summer of 2023. Bleachers with more seating will be installed in the summer of 2024, as well as the stage being renovated into a multi-purpose space.
With project bids coming in lower than anticipated, the district is able add the renovation of the gymnasium restrooms, which is a much needed and requested project. If you have been in the high school for an event or a ball game, you can recall the half-wall stalls! These will be replaced with updated facilities, which will allow for privacy and functionality.
