Smithville Warriors Varsity defeated Pleasant Hill 8-2 on Wednesday thanks to five runs in the fourth inning. Ellie Pickett, Haley Cotter, Lily Wornson, and Ashlyn Langhus all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.
Smithville Warriors Varsity fired up the offense in the first inning, when Raelyn Tanner doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
In the bottom of the first inning, Pleasant Hill tied things up at one when #24 singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run.
Smithville Warriors Varsity pulled away for good with five runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Pickett grounded out, scoring one run, Cotter tripled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs, #17 induced Wornson to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored, and Langhus doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
Cotter toed the rubber for Smithville Warriors Varsity. The bulldog allowed five hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out five.

Langhus went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead Smithville Warriors Varsity in hits. Smithville Warriors Varsity didn’t commit a single error in the field. Tanner had the most chances in the field with ten.
