First Impact Safe Driving Presentation

First Impact Safe Driving Presentation
April 12, 2017
6:30-8:00 pm
Performing Arts Center (PAC)
For parents of new drivers and new drivers themselves

First Impact is a traffic safety program that educates parents about Missouri's Graduated Driver License (GDL) law as well as provides them with the tools they need to monitor, coach and support their new teen driver.

Missouri GDL law is a three-step licensing system. The purpose is to ease teens into licensure so that they can build skill in an environment that minimizes those things that are shown to cause the greatest risk for new drivers.

Research confirms that GDL laws have been instrumental in reducing teen crashes by 20 to 40%.

Nurse's Corner with Debbie

Parents/Guardians,

Children need to come to school healthy and ready to learn. Below are a few guidelines we ask you to follow concerning your child's health.

1. Absentee Calls--If your child is going to be absent please call the school. Messages can be left after school hours on the answering machine. Leave your child's name, grade and reason for absence.

2. Temperature - If your child has an elevated temperature (100 degrees or above) in the evening or morning before school and symptoms of a cold, cough, sore throat, stomach complaints, etc. keep him/her home and seek the advice of your physician. A child must be fever free for 24 hours, without medication (Tylenol or Motrin, etc.) before returning to school.

3. Strep Throat--If your child is tested for Strep throat, they should remain home while waiting for the results of the throat culture. Your child may return to school following 24 hours of medication.

4. Please contact your school nurse immediately if your child has contacted a communicable disease or is hospitalized.

5. Students are to report to the health room if feeling ill.  The student will be evaluated by the nurse.  A call from the nurse will be made to the parent/guardian if needing to go home.
Thank you!
